Pink gloves against breast cancer

Pink gloves against breast cancer

At Gamesa Gearbox, our responsibility to the safety and well-being of our workforce extends beyond our facilities. On the occasion of International Breast Cancer Day, celebrated on 19 October, we have launched a special initiative to raise awareness and support the fight against this disease.

Thanks to the collaboration with one of our suppliers of personal protective equipment, we contributed to the research project of the breast cancer functional unit of the HUBU (Burgos University Hospital) medical oncology service with the distribution of pink safety gloves (Cut 1 category) among the production staff.

At the end of the day, they were able to take these gloves home to transfer the safety culture to their daily lives. This action aims not only to reinforce the importance of safety at work, but also to raise awareness and promote solidarity around breast cancer beyond the workplace.

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women. In Spain, according to updated data from 2024, it is estimated that around 35,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year, while in the world the figure exceeds 2.3 million diagnoses per year. Such initiatives, although symbolic, play a key role in raising awareness and support for people facing this disease.

At Gamesa Gearbox, we continue to promote actions that generate a direct impact on the awareness of our staff and their loved ones. Initiatives like this allow us to continue building a culture of prevention, support and solidarity, inside and outside the company.
